Before going from A to Z, we first explore the path from A to B. We run short, well-defined pilot projects and experiments, test out new ideas and monitor our findings - both for clients as well as internally. Rapid iteration is no empty promise, but deeply embedded in our being. Our flat hierarchy allows for quick decision making and getting things done.

Brains

It took us years to build our expertise, and we keep building it today. We love to experiment with new technologies and are always looking for the next big thing that will take our work to the next level. Internal hackathons and knowledge sharing are plenty here, but we also keep in touch with the Shopify and Odoo communities, exchanging ideas and exploring what’s next.

How our story started

We never set out to build a tech company

We, John and Sam, were simply trying to build our own business. Back when we founded Jaswig, an ergonomic furniture brand, sales exploded quickly - and so did complexity. We needed software that could handle it. Shopify powered the online experience and Odoo ran operations behind the scenes. We grew fast, and caught the attention of Fully, a US-based furniture giant.

After acquisition we scaled Fully Europe to €25 million in turnover. The tools that enabled that journey? Shopify and Odoo. That’s when we realized: the right software stack isn’t just a detail. It's the foundation for growth. And that's when we founded Bombay Studio, where we helped e-commerce brands grow.

Meanwhile, Niels and Dimitri were scaling their own brand: Puzzle in a Bag. Alongside that success, they were building dear digital, a marketing agency for e-commerce brands with strong creative roots and a pragmatic, hands-on mindset.

We quickly noticed we shared the same values, started working together on clients, and In 2021, we joined forces under the dear digital name. Over time, the focus sharpened. We phased out marketing, leaned into our strengths, and committed to helping other brands scale - using the tools that once helped us scale our own.

And that’s still the DNA we carry forward today: operator experience, founder empathy, and deep belief in the potential of Shopify and Odoo - when implemented with care. We’ve been in the trenches. Now we help others move faster, cleaner, and smarter with the same tools we once built our own companies on.

Somewhere along the way, we found over 40 people who share the same beliefs and values, and strive to give the best of themselves every day. It's been quite the ride - and we're only getting started.
