Custom webshop in Odoo for DJAR
DJAR is a tasty, healthy food concept from Belgium that brings fresh, balanced meals straight to your workplace, event or fridge, all served in reusable jars that make lunch both delicious and sustainable.
They’re passionate about nutrition, seasonal produce, and making a healthy lunch something to look forward to, not just another task on the to-do list.
The challenge
After we initially helped DJAR automate their operations with Odoo (bringing inventory, sales, purchasing and invoicing together in one platform), the next logical step was to make ordering just as smooth.
But there was a catch: although Odoo had become their backbone, DJAR didn’t have an online shop that matched their brand or their growing ambitions. They needed a webshop that would fully integrate with their existing Odoo ERP and keep data in sync (inventory, orders, customer info). But it also needed to reflect the vibrant, flavorful identity of the brand and support future growth, without adding work or extra tools
Odoo isn’t traditionally known for e-commerce — but we saw it as the perfect opportunity to simplify DJAR’s tech stack while making something really great.
Our approach
We didn’t just throw a template on top of Odoo. Instead, we built a fully custom webshop inside the Odoo platform, tailored specifically to DJAR’s needs.Here’s how we tackled it:
1. Start with strong UX & brand design
We kicked off with our designer Laura to shape a webshop that looks as good as DJAR’s meals taste. The focus was on clean layout, easy navigation, and conversion-friendly flows, all without sacrificing the brand’s personality.
2. Build bespoke features instead of one-size-fits-all templates
Because DJAR had unique requirements, we added features that weren’t available out of the box:
- slide-out cart
- delivery date selector
- customised collections
- product review
3. Keep it truly integrated
Since the webshop lives inside the same Odoo database DJAR already uses for accounting, purchasing and stock, there’s no data duplication, no endless syncing, and no risk of mismatches. Sales flow straight into orders, invoices are generated automatically, and inventory always stays up to date.
The result
The custom Odoo webshop made life smoother for DJAR across the board.Here’s what changed:
- Seamless order management: webshop orders now flow into Odoo with zero manual work.
- Automated invoicing: invoices are created and sent automatically for every online order.
- More time for what matters: Alison and Danielle can focus on recipes, sales and events instead of repetitive admin.
With their Odoo webshop fully connected to operations, DJAR can grow online, without managing multiple systems or manual tasks.
At DJAR, great food deserves a great online experience, and now they have exactly that. This project shows how Odoo can be more than an ERP: it can be the right webshop too, when thoughtfully designed and built.
