Baker Tilly Corporate Finance: From scattered spreadsheets to a structured Odoo workflow

 Baker Tilly Corporate Finance is part of the Baker Tilly Group and operates in the world of corporate finance. Their teams support companies with mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, valuations and strategic transactions. Projects are often complex, involving multiple stakeholders and running in parallel.

For  Baker Tilly Corporate Finance, confidentiality and collaboration are crucial - and they needed the right tools that could keep up with the complexity of their work.

Before working with us,  Baker Tilly Corporate Finance relied heavily on Excel spreadsheets to track leads, projects and progress. These files were shared across teams and collaborators, and quickly became a limitation.

Why? Because working with Excel sheets means no single source of truth, a limited visibility and tedious collab, and hard to track who was working on what and when. 

With many corporate finance projects running at the same time, the lack of structure made it increasingly difficult to maintain oversight and efficiency. 

They needed a system that would:

• give them a clear overview of all ongoing projects
• support collaboration across teams
• remain transparent
• fully aligned with their specific way of working
  
  

Notre approche

We implemented Odoo as their new foundation, but not in a standard way.

Corporate finance workflows are not something Odoo supports out of the box, so a classic implementation wouldn’t work. Instead, we built a largely custom Odoo environment, that fully catered to  Baker Tilly Corporate Finance's processes.

1. Custom modules for a custom workflow

Together with the client, we mapped out their business flows in detail and translated them into custom Odoo modules. This allowed us to mirror how their teams actually work, rather than forcing them into a more standard logic.

To make this a success, this stage required close collaboration and a lot of communication - essential to get the solution exactly right!

2. Integrating Bizzy

We also integrated Bizzy, a Belgian database containing company information.

We followed this workflow to do so:

• targets (leads) are created and grouped in Bizzy
• these lists are exported into Odoo
• target companies are then used directly within Odoo projects
  

Goodbye manual work, hello relevant company data - immediately available in the right context too!

After implementation,  Baker Tilly Corporate Finance moved from fragmented spreadsheets to a structured, shared platform.

Now all projects are visible in one place, team members can clearly see who is involved in which project  their targets and leads are centrally managed - which makes for a collaboration that is far more efficient and transparent.

 Baker Tilly Corporate Finance is now rolling out and using the new Odoo setup extensively within their corporate finance team - and the story continues!
